The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. He\u00a0 challenges us when we are sick to seek God for the keys to our healing.<\/p>\n
My husband had battled symptoms of all sorts for years. After checking these sicknesses out and finding nothing, we believed he was being oppressed by a spirit of infirmity. II Cor. 10:3-5 says our battle is not against flesh and blood so we knew we had a spiritual battle on our hands.\u00a0 Alan experienced attacks of one ailment after another in its inflicting path of destruction. So far we had not been able to banish the attacks completely. I began to think about throwing \u201cJonah\u201d overboard in order to have some peace. I picked up Stormie Omartian\u2019s book on praying for your husband and she wrote in the preface just what I needed. She asked God why she should continue praying for her husband because she was weary and needing prayer herself? She felt the Holy Spirit say, \u201cIf you will cover him, I\u2019ll cover you.\u201d That sounded like a good deal to me also so I persevered in prayer.<\/p>\n
On Alan\u2019s 55th birthday I had a dream revealing some keys to his deliverance. In the dream a giant shadow was emerging from the wooded forest. It came out to the clearing and had never been seen before. A voice commanded Alan to finish him off with a long lance like in the days of knights. He was to ram him through with all finality. The wording made me think it was something familiar he made a lot of progress in slaying and could finish off the last thread of its hold.<\/p>\n
In the background of this dream I heard a classic drum solo from an old band called Iron Butterfly, \u201cIn A Gadd Da DaVida\u201d. (Alan used to be a drummer) I distinctly heard the words of the song change to \u201cIn our God we\u2019ll defeat ya.\u201d The lyrics of this song continued with words of affirming love and asking us to take his hand to walk and possess this land. (the promised land of healing I hoped!)<\/p>\n
Has anyone struggled to know God\u2019s faithfulness or love? These lyrics confirmed areas of question and doubt for Alan.<\/p>\n
The third scene of the dream was an old Mitch Miller song of my parents\u2019 era. \u201cKeep Your Sunny Side Up.\u201d The lyrics continued, \u201cHide the side that gets blue.\u201d\u00a0 Alan had not hidden the side that got blue. He tried to be truthful about his frustration with his situation of constant attack and God is able to handle our venting. However, after he finishes expressing his complaints, I knew he needed to line up with the truth of scripture. The truth is that Christ\u2019s atonement accomplished his salvation and healing 2000 years ago and by his stripes we are healed. (Is. 53:3-5) We are no longer to go by what we feel or hear. (Is. 11:3) He needed to ignore his symptoms and believe scripture over his feelings. If he confesses any sin and is prayed for in Jesus\u2019 name, he is entitled to healing. (James 5:14-16) I am reminded how the first line of defense in Jehoshaphat\u2019s battle were the praisers. They praised God before they saw the victory. I know it is important to give thanks, come into God\u2019s presence, renew our minds in his words, and believe positively that God can defeat our enemies through us spiritually.<\/p>\n

I received Is. 42:6 for my husband when I woke from the dream. I want to claim this scripture from God\u2019s word for you also. \u201cI have called you for the victory of justice; I have grasped you by the hand, I formed you and set you as a covenant for the people.\u201d Do you have a shadow that needs slaying? Will you take His hand? Will you become a promise and testimony for others to receive this wonderful gift of divine healing?<\/p>\n
