The Power of Your Confession

I am inspired by Kenneth Hagin this morning who is now deceased since 2003. He was a word of faith healer beginning in 1935. He had a congenital deformed heart and an incurable blood disease. He was paralyzed and bedfast for 16 months at the age of 15. I want to share some of his message.

He told his story of crying and praying and begging for healing for months at a time and he realized it wasn’t getting him anywhere. He knew he needed to add something to it. He knew that faith came by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So he listened to preachers whenever he could and studied the Word.

He read in James 1:5-7 that if he needed wisdom he should ask God. The scripture informed him to believe and not doubt because otherwise he would be blown and tossed like a wave, double minded, and unable to receive anything from the Lord. He wanted to receive his healing.

He began to key in on this verse as his life verse: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you receive it and it is yours.” (Mark 11:24) So he learned he must first believe and then he must receive his healing.

So he began declaring his healing before he felt like it or saw evidence of it and he heard a still small voice say, “If you are healed, then get up off that bed.” So he turned over in bed and his legs fell to the ground like two dead weights and he grabbed the bedpost pushing himself up to stand. He noticed he stood straight up and he began to walk! He has been healed for 66 years since and preaching until 2001!

Now he lived in the Pastor’s parish in 1939 and the congregation would call him from time to time to come and pray for the sick. There was a lady who had only been a Christian for a year or two and might occasionally come on a Sunday night but never bothered to bring her children or anything. She called him one winter day when all three of the children were sick with a virus and burning fever and asked for prayer. When he arrived she went to meet him and said, “ I know God would want to heal my little children.” And God always did. Pastor Hagin would feel their fever literally cool down as he laid his hands on them to pray.

A few weeks later a devout Christian woman whose husband was an elder in their church called for prayer for their young son, Alfonso, sick with the flu. This was one of the most spiritually mature women he had ever met and yet when he knocked on her door she was a long time in coming. Finally she opened the door and said the boy is in the back room. She said she didn’t know why her husband had called as the prayer has never healed him before. Hmmm she had just nullified the possibility of the prayer working as the scripture says in Matt. 13:58, “He didn’t do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”

Paster Hagin wondered why had the first woman’s children been healed who didn’t seem a dedicated churchgoer and this woman’s not? “According to your faith may it be done to you.” (Matt. 9:28). Yes, according to your faith may it be done to you.

In another case with Pastor Hagin, healing of numbness on one side of his face came the next morning as he continued to believe it after prayer. Despite his crooked smile and others telling him they saw no difference in his face, he spoke into being the unseen thing he hoped for and he was healed the next morning.

One time when a family member asked him a question of why someone in their family wasn’t healed while in the husband’s family they were? He felt like God was saying, Deut. 29:29, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever.” Unknown-1

You won’t know unless it is revealed to you because that is between God and them. One thing the woman realized was that her husband’s family had repented and forgiven quickly throughout their lives and her family had been slow and reluctant. This fact proved to be another key: “If you hold anything against anyone, forgive him so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (Mark 11:25)

He thought he was never to ponder that thought again why someone didn’t get healed and another did because the secret things belong to the Lord and it would only create doubt to ponder that. Just keep praying and healing others…

What do we know so far: We must believe to receive our healing. We don’t go by what we feel or see and often must proclaim our healing before we see it completely manifested.

Review:
Get prayer (James 5:14)
Believe in the word of faith (Heb. 11:1)
Receive your healing (Matt. 9:29)
Speak into being your healing despite any remaining symptoms or no visible change (Romans 4:17)
Repent and forgive quickly (Mark 11:25)
Remember: The secret things belong to the Lord. (Deut. 29:29)
