No One to Intervene

As I prepared to speak at a meeting one day last week, I thought to myself, I don’t know how they’ll accept or like my message. There may be a few facts of my testimony that are hard to fathom. Fear of rejection and failure tried to splash over me in waves.

Then I read this scripture, Is. 59:15-16 The Lord looked and there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene, so his own arm worked salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.

The passage went on to explain that God would take vengeance on his enemies, and men will fear the name of the Lord. And he will redeem all those who repent of their sins.

The Isaiah 59 passage came alive to me because I thought here I am thinking about how my message will be received. I planned to tell about humbling experiences, expose sin, wrong attitudes, and how God directed me to change. I felt God saying through this passage–I don’t have anyone who will help get my message out, bring about change and repentance, have a Godly fear and reverence for Me.

I thought about the Lord who with a firm word was calling me to action. It was exactly what I needed. This is not about how my message will be received. He was asking me to be a mouth to speak his words, be a willing vessel, testify for him what he’s done in my life. I needed to take courage and speak it out so he doesn’t have to do it himself or with someone else who is willing. And here is the promise he gives for carrying out his message:

My Spirit, who is on you, and my words I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your descendants from this time forever. (Is. 59:21)

What an awesome promise! I’ll do it! How about you?
